Public nudity is an umbrella term for any time someone or a group of people are naked while in public. Most of the time it refers to the act of people being naked while in a place where others are clothed. The world naked bike ride events are great examples of events where the participants are naked while the rest of crowds are not. Hence the people who take part is such events are basically participating in public nudity events.
Just because someone is naked in public, it does not mean that there is something sexual about the act itself. More often than not, public nudity is used as a way to protest or for artistic purposes. Since the vast majority of locations will not allow people to nude in public, it is important to know the local laws before participating in a public nity event of any kind.
