Solair Nudist Resort 2016 Season: Young Naturists Weekend, New YNA Discount & More
Guest Blog by: Tyler at Solair
Hello, everyone! My name is Tyler and my wife and I are members of Solair, a family nudist resort located in Woodstock, Connecticut. My wife and I are by definition young naturists, as I am 27 and she is 26. Solair has a slogan of “Come for a visit, stay for a lifetime” and this could not be more true for us. We started coming to Solair in 2013 after only going to a few nude beaches. We immediately realized that this is where we wanted to be for life. The members are so nice and helpful and there is so much to do.
Our experience was so wonderful that we purchased a cabin in September of 2013 and have been coming in just about every weekend since. Our goal is to do the same for visitors coming in that the members did for us when we were new. They showed us the ins and outs, and we made friends quickly. I cannot thank our friends enough for taking us under their wing, and now we are doing our best to pay it forward. After traveling to some other resorts we have realized that Solair really is the nudist gem of New England.
Solair has lots to offer for young naturists and naturists young at heart. We have over 350 acres of land for hiking, swimming, non motorized boating, volleyball, tennis, horseshoes and just about anything else you could possibly want! Solair is a year-round resort. We are open to members and associates 365 days a year and have year round events. Visitors are welcome from April 15th to November 1st.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day we have lots of events such as dances, dinners, games and contests. Our own full menu restaurant is also open on weekends during the summer. Every Saturday we have a dance with a DJ or band. Of course if you would just like the peace and quiet of laying on the beach, or socializing with other guests at the pool you can do that, too.
Myself and other members are trying to reach out to the younger nudist community. Last year we experienced a significant increase in younger guests coming in. I feel this is because of the events we have been offering that cater to the younger crowd. Last season we had a very successful Young Naturist Weekend. Events that we had were a scavenger hunt, our own version of the Skinny Dip, pie eating contests, raffles and much more. This year we are going to try adding some additional activities, and we will also be doing a BBQ. It was a very successful weekend due to the publicity boost from Felicity and Jordan at YNA. Thank you to everyone who came out!
We’re looking forward to this upcoming season, and we opened up to day visitors on April 15th. Although the weather will probably be a little chilly, we are still having events such as the Spring Fling dance on April 30 (the heat will be on a nude friendly level!). Also it is a great time of year to hike our grounds and explore all that Solair has to offer. It’s also the perfect time to take a soak in our large indoor hot tub that was just refinished, or try out our sauna which is always ready to use. Join us on most Friday nights to play pool or ping pong and listen to music in our Community Center. Once the weather is warmer, we have water volleyball on Fridays in the pool. In general we have a ton of events each season. Check out our website at www.solairrl.com to see the full line-up of scheduled events!
Solair has over 60 rental sites from cabins to tent sites. We can also accommodate RV’s of any size. The tent and RV sites are either on a nightly or seasonal rate. We have a few secluded tent sites for anyone who likes the seclusion and the sound of the waterfall nearby. Most of our tent sites have platforms to keep you off the ground.
The major events that you might want to check out is on Memorial Day weekend we are having one of Solair’s favorite bands and a camp dinner to kick off the season. Our Young Naturist Weekend is July 9-10th. A new event we are trying out is a Nude 5k on the weekend of July 16-17. We are having our Solair Summer Smash on August 11-14, which is part of the nude volleyball tournaments and will feature multiple sand and hard courts.
Also this year we will be honoring YNA memberships on the same level as AANR. It will be $30 for each of your first 4 visits and $35 after with a valid membership card.
You can follow me on Facebook at “Tyler at Solair” or “Laurel Ridge.” I often post our events and the happenings around camp. Feel free to message me about any questions you may have. I am also a part of the membership committee so there is a good chance you could get me for a tour! We are happy to be associated with YNA and wish everyone a fun nude season!
