Ontario Indoor Naked Volleyball Tournament Review
Review of the 8th Annual Indoor Naturist Naked Volleyball Tournament in London, Ontario

For many years after the annual Volleyball Super Bowl at White Thorn Lodge each year, naturist volleyball lovers from the Northeast and Midwest United States as well as from Ontario and Quebec in Canada faced the prospect of not having another naturist tournament for another six months. They’d have to wait until the Super Bowl South tournament at Lake Como or even longer til June the following year for one of the tournaments in Pennsylvania, Ontario, and Quebec.
All of that changed in the winter of 2008-09 when avid volleyball enthusiast Peter Allison decided to organize a one-day indoor naturist volleyball tournament in Canada.
On Friday, January 8, 2016, I left my sleepy little town and headed up to the Great Green North to attend the 8th Annual Winter Indoor Naturist Volleyball Tournament in London, Ontario at a place called Spikes Indoor Beach Volleyball. Spike looks like it used to be an old factory that someone purchased and then installed 4 regulation-size sand volleyball courts. One day per year, Spikes is reserved for naked volleyball.
Besides the 4 sand courts, Spikes also has several picnic tables where people can sit and socialize, watch the games, or eat the food served by Spikes snack bar. A photo of Spikes Indoor Volleyball can be seen below.
Doors opened for the tournament at 9 AM. Players registered (cost was about $15 per person) and started organizing teams. The levels of the teams were Novice, Novice Plus, B level & A level. Overall about 65 attendees came through the doors that day. The ages of the players ranged from about 12-13 to 60’s and perhaps 70’s with several young adults in attendance. Each team played several games in from morning until early afternoon. Then came a lunch break, followed by the championship playoffs after that.
The championship games wrapped up at about 3:30 PM and then some of the players stayed to play some pickup games. Everyone enjoyed themselves at this event and caught up with friends who they may not have seen since last summer.
I recommend that if you get that itch to play naked volleyball and want to beat the mid-winter blahs, come up to the next London Indoor Naturist Volleyball tournament in either late December 2016 or January 2017.
This annual event is sponsored by Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park, and more information can be found on the Bare Oaks website.
