Reader Question: Isn’t It Weird That I Like Being Naked At Home?

A Reader Wonders Why He Likes To Be Naked At Home After Growing Up in a Clothed Society

Q. Hello, my question is actually stupid. As an adult, I found that I prefer going without clothes when I am alone, or just being naked at home. I don’t participate in social nudity when other people may be around. It seems to me quite an unusual preference for a person who grew up and lives in a fully clothed society.

It just seems quite a peculiar thing to like. Maybe it would be like a person who grew up in a Washington apple orchard finding that he likes pears more. Do you have any clue why this sort of preference might arise?

I have no better answer than just, “it feels good, and it lets me relax more.”

Being Naked At Home

A. It’s very common for people to prefer being naked at home, alone or with others. I would guess millions of people hang out naked at home. I do hear from a lot of guys that they started doing so when they were teens or older, even though their families were not nudists or were not going naked at home themselves.

So I would say it’s actually normal, and “it’s more comfortable” is certainly a good enough reason to do it. There’s nothing wrong with it, no harmful effects and if anything it can be beneficial in a number of ways. You’ve already seen a benefit in that helps you feel more relaxed.

Society may condition people to wear clothes at all times and feel body shame, but there are and always will be people who choose to ignore it and do what feels natural or what makes them happy.

As nudists say, you were born naked! That’s the natural state, and clothing can be seen as the unnatural state. Out of the whole animal kingdom, we’re the only ones that put on pieces of fabric in public even when it’s a pointless, uncomfortable hindrance.

But the privacy of the home is one of many places where people can be free and comfortable!

What do you think, readers? Are you a home nudist, and did you ever wonder the same thing at some point?

I’m naked at home anytime I can be. I live in the country and only put a little something on if I go off the property (like on the road). I always figured if too many people complain , I’ll sell tickets. U0001f60a
    Stay naked!

What’s the problem?  I’m buck naked right now.  I prefer it that way.  Only problem – don’t gross out your neighbors.  Fortunately I’m an early riser.  I can go outside nude early.  I work out in my garage – light weights.  Naked.  Just use discretion.

Your experience is not uncommon at all!  In fact, while a lot of folks find their way into social nudism at a later age, many of us have felt that ‘urge’ to be nude since early childhood.  Stories abound about paople who, as young kids, strippeed off as soon as mom and dad left the house for a while!  Sadly, feelings of shame and fear about being ‘different’ often accompanied that desire.

We didn’t know that it was ok because we didn’t know that anyone else felt that way, let alone MILLIONS of folks worldwide!
Pardon the plug, but here’s a link to a small section for ‘home nudists’ on our website.  You’ll find that you are far from alone!  http://www.all-nudist.com/home-nudist—secret-nudist.html#.VBPhxPldWSo

I too started hanging out naked at home alone when I was a teen. I didn’t feel comfortable doing it around other people until I experienced nudism for the first time.
