Michigan Nudists And A Woman’s First Nudist Resort Visit
(Guest Nudist Blog)
A Woman Visits A Resort For Michigan Nudists Blog:
At first, when my husband mentioned visiting a nudist resort, I must admit I was apprehensive. The first thing that came to mind was… everyone will be looking at my naked my naked body, seeing all my imperfections and I will not be enjoying the experience one bit. While I kind of hate clothes and they first thing to coming off when I get home, that is in the safety of my home and I could not wrap my head around being naked in public.
Our first nudist experience was at Sunny Haven Nudist Resort in Michigan. While I would have preferred a tropical setting, this nudist resort was an experience.
At this Michigan nudist resort you can put up a tent or rent a chalet for a day or the weekend. We decided to rent a chalet and live naked for a weekend. We have 3 children, and we did not want them to be ashamed of their differences, but rather learn to embrace change and not make the body something it is not. I do think if social nudism or naturism was more acceptable, people would be less concerned about their bodies, how they look and how they “groom” themselves.
When we first arrived I must say I was fully clothed and scared to death to take my clothes off. Immediately, I saw people walking around naked with not a care in the world. Society places such stigma on personal body parts that it took me quite some time to not want to stare. After I got more comfortable around nudity and nudists, I learned to admire the total beauty of another person instead fixating on specific parts.
There are plenty of activities at the nudist park to keep you busy. We participated in the naked body painting and also the murder mystery they had. While it was all done in birthday suits, we soon found that with everyone being naked, it suddenly did not seem to matter anymore. There is a great deal of misconceptions about nudists, the first being that it is nothing but about sex. In fact, it has nothing to do with sex; it is just being free in what we have and not being hindered by clothing.
That was my first experience and to date I have had several more. We are teaching our children it is okay to see the other sex naked and learn boundaries with and without clothes. Being a nudist saves a lot on the laundry bill and the clothes too. While we do not live in a society that accepts this way of life, at least there are places that allow us to be free when we have time.
Misconceptions about nudism at a Young Age:
When I was younger (much younger, talking about 4 or 5 years old here) I was taken on a trip with my parents and sister to Mazatlan, Mexico. It was my first time out of the States, and I was young, but I still knew that things would be different, and I would see some unexpected things. That didn’t much help to prepare me for what I did see, though.
We were told not to drink the water, not to go to certain areas, and other things that were strange that we should look out for. And after touring the city and seeing most of what there was to see before hitting up the ocean, I was certain that I had seen all of the “strange” there was to see. Then we decided to end the day with a trip to the ocean.
Upon stepping foot on the baking sands of Mexico, everything looked about right. The sun was hot, the water blue, and drinks cold, and the women naked. Wait- naked women!? As you can imagine, this was a first for my little 5 year old eyes. What was best (arguably) part? I was the only one who noticed these ladies who were tanning out on the beach by themselves.
My parents and sister were too busy taking in the rest of their surroundings and talking to take notice of them. So no one else in my family saw them. So I just stared and stared, memorized by the fact that these fully grown women were completely nude and laying out for everyone to see. Something that I had done many, many times before in the past and got yelled at. To me and my 5 year old brain, it was paradise. Also, it was the first time I had seen real boobs, so that too was kind of a plus.
Anyhow, my father soon caught a glimpse and covered my eyes and explained to me in great detail how people do things differently in different countries. Needless to say, I didn’t need the lecture.
It was a good experience for me because it helped me to realize that what the media tells you and how the public reacts to such things as public nudity is oftentimes an over-exaggeration. I also realized that being nude all of the time is not only a viable option, but also a regular custom among other countries throughout the world.
