Jordan Rants: Celebrity advocate for Body Acceptance

No Celebrity advocate for Body Acceptance – I was thinking the other day that for some reason I cannot think of one celebrity charity that advocates for body image / body acceptance. So naturally I googled it and this is what I found – Nothing!

There are so many worthy causes out there. And there are hundreds if not thousands that are supported by celebrities! So why hasn’t one (just one) come out in full and total support of body acceptance and all that it represents? Are most celebrities too busy standing in front of the mirror? Perhaps they don’t think that body image is a worthy cause? Why must they / we wait till the problem develops into something more serious, like anorexia or bulimia to take action? In my world view, it is not our place to judge people based on what they look like. If someone is 500lbs and this person knows the risks, then it is not for me to judge. If they are happy then what is wrong with letting them continue living a happy life?

We applaud actress Ashley Judd for her own rant (which is far more eloquent than this one) about the objectification of both women and men and the way society and the media relentlessly judge a person’s worth or value solely by their appearance. But still, a consistent, dedicated advocate for body acceptance is missing.

What do you think? Are we missing a celebrity advocate for body acceptance or positive body image? Why?

No Celebrity for Body Acceptance – Lets try and change this !!!

I would have to say most celebrities don’t fight for it, because their livelihood depends on the fact that they look good, and they have to fit into a size 3, or wear the right clothes, etc.  It’s against their best interests to do so.

Well you would think that at least one super model or actress would stand up.

I think they aren’t there for one simple reason, even if they agree with it they don’t see it as one of the big issues of the day. Maybe a few years down the road but not in a time when most moderates are considered crazy hippie liberals.
