Testers Wanted For New App Against Cyberbullying: Keepers Child Safety

As you probably know, Bullying is an issue that we care deeply about and would like to see eradicated forever.

Now there’s an opportunity to help end cyberbullying among children and teens with a new app, recently developed by a friend of YNA. It’s still in development, but they are in need of testers! Families with children under the age of 14 who use Android smartphones can sign up to test the app.

Read more about this app and how to become a tester in the letter from one of its creators below.

Keepers Child Safety And Anti-Bullying App

Hello,

My name is Hamutal and I’m a mother to 3 amazing children.

For the past year or so, my husband Arik and I have been developing an app to help protect our children from cyberbullying.

Every day we hear about cyberbullying; about disrespectful and hurtful use of social media. We hear it on the news, on social media, from friends, and unfortunately, from the schools our kids attend.

Nowadays, kids send and receive hundreds of text messages a day.

Arik and I realized that it is virtually impossible, as parents, to sift through this massive amount of texts, in order to find the ones that target our children or those containing hurtful, offensive wording or texts that expose our children to inappropriate hate driven content.

We understood the solution had to be technological.

We wanted a tool that would help us keep our children safe but on the other hand allow them to maintain their daily routine and protect their right to privacy.

As parents, we all want the best for our children. We believe in values such as independence and privacy for and of our children. The fine line between maintaining these values and keeping our children safe is one we, as parents, walk each and every day. Often that line is crossed or faded.

Keepers, is our solution to fighting cyberbullying while maintaining our children’s right to privacy and independence.

Keepers is an app that sifts through the hundreds of text messages (in the pilot stage, we can only identify messages from WhatsApp and Facebook) our children send and receive daily, and notifies us, the parents, only of those messages containing inappropriate language or content. Thus helping us keep our children safe.

We are happy to announce that we are at the pilot stage of the app. The purpose of the pilot is to help us understand the wants and needs of the parents, before releasing the official app to the public.

We are looking for parents with children up to 14 years of age, who have Android based smart phones to take part in the pilot.

For more information on Keepers, please visit our website: www.KeepersChildSafety.net. If you would like to join our pilot, contact us through the website or email us: keeperschildsafety [at] gmail [dot] com.

Thank you for your time,

Hamutal
