Deep Creek hot springs
We’ll soak from 10:30am then pack at 3:45ish and hike out by 4p so we hike out while there is light.
We are taking the Bradford Ridge Trail from Lake Arrowhead. The Bradford Ridge Trail is by far the fastest and car-friendliest route for folks coming from the south (LA, SD, etc) and also it is totally free! Trail info: http://studentreader.com/deep-creek-hot-springs/#Bradford-Trail
We will hike out at 4p from the hot springs — unless you want to camp overnight? Network with other folks on the Meetup group or Facebook if you want to camp. And invite your friends!
About Deep Creek: Deep Creek hot springs is a primitive hot spring in the high desert. It’s part of San Bernardino National Forest. The hot springs are a naturist paradise — even the hiking trail is clothing-optional. It is free and no permits are required. However, glass is not allowed and trash is carry-in, carry-out (and I urge you to help pick up other litter you see). The hike in about sixty minutes in and ninety minutes out. Please bring at least a half gallon (two liters) of water, and also some snacks. All that hiking and soaking causes a lot of salt loss so keep that in mind, too, when planning what to bring.
January 18 – 19th: Overnight naked camping trip at Joshua Tree National Park
One of my dreams the past year has been a naked trip out to Joshua Tree. So far we have always done day trips or one-nighters to nearby hot springs so this would be more for those of us who really love hiking and camping. We can be naked on all BLM (Bureau of Land Management) campgrounds / land.
Make sure to bring all your own gear, including a warm sleeping bag. We’re going to be there during the cold season, so make sure to bring some light winter clothes in case you need them. Looking forward to getting in some naked rock scrambling though! Some freehiking, too. But above all, let’s enjoy our amazing national park however we see fit.
More details on timepoints, campsites and activities coming soon. I’m going to base it on how many people RSVP. If you are interested, feel free to sound off on whatever ideas you have on the Meetup group or Facebook.
