YNA End of Summer Hike & Skinny Dip in Upstate NY

In June, we kicked off the arrival of summer with our annual hike and skinny dip in the Ramapo Mountains… Now we thought we’d say goodbye to summer with another hike on the autumnal equinox!skinny dip hike autumnal equinox upstate new york yna

Join us on Friday, September 22nd for a day trip into Harriman State Park. We will visit our usual skinny dipping spots. The water may be fairly cold this time of year, but as long as the sun comes out we’ll have a nice day!

About the Hike: The hike is approximately one hour going in, so about two hours of hiking in total. There are some steep uphill climbs, but it’s not too strenuous. You should wear sneakers or hiking boots.

There are 2 lakes to explore and cool off in. The 2nd lake is the main destination and where the group will sit down, relax and picnic.

At least a few people will free hike (hike naked) if it’s warm enough, but we cannot guarantee the opportunity to do so. There are of course non-naturists who visit the park, and we may encounter a few along the way. We ask people to carry a cover-up to use just in case we do pass someone who gets offended. But as always, all genders, men and women, can legally go topfree.

Cost: There is no fee to enter the park. However we do request that participants become a member of YNA to support us as an organization and help us continue organizing events like this!

RSVP: If you are attending please RSVP using the form below or email us at ynaevents [at[ gmail [dot} com. This helps us keep track of the number of people attending and allows us to get in contact with everyone (in case event details change, we have to cancel, etc).

We will also use this form to arrange carpooling, so please fill in those fields accordingly.

Fill out my online form.
Use Wufoo integrations and get your data to your favorite apps.

What to bring: Water, lunch, towel, sunscreen and bug spray. When the sky is clear, it’s very open and sunny at our swimming areas (with shade to be found more inland). Feel free to also bring a raft / float and any games you might bring to the beach. (Trash is carry in, carry out.)

Where and when to meet: The group will meet at the Sebago Lake parking lot / boat launch at 10am. The meeting spot is located off Seven Lakes Drive, a few miles from Rt 87. There’s no exact address, but the GPS coordinates are: 41.198029, -74.129615. Here’s a link to view it on Google maps.

We will hike back down the mountain around 2 or 3pm, though some people also leave earlier or stay later.

Carpooling / transportation: The meeting point is about a 45 – 60 minute drive from Manhattan. If you need a ride or can offer a ride from NYC, please indicate that in the RSVP form above! Then we will connect passengers to drivers for carpooling.

If you’re driving from elsewhere and interested in carpooling, you can also provide your starting location in the form above, and we will connect you with anyone else coming from your area.

By train: The nearby town of Sloatsburg is accessible by public transportation via Metro North trains. The train station is a few miles from the meeting point so you would need to get a ride from the station. If you want to go by train, contact us in advance and we can see about getting you picked up.

Hiking Trip FAQs:

Q: It’s my first time attending a YNA event! Will I be the only newbie? Anything I should know?
A: Great! We get first-timers at every event, so don’t worry about being the odd one out. (Plus we’re pretty friendly. :) But please read our event FAQs to learn more about our events and naturist etiquette.

Q: Do I have to be a YNA member to attend?
A: No, anyone can join. But we will repeat that becoming a YNA member is one great way to support us and help us keep organizing events like this one! It’s only $22 / year.

Q: Is this family-friendly? Can I bring my kids?
A: This is an hour-long hike, and it’s not too strenuous, but we would not recommend it for toddlers or small children. That being said it’s definitely family-friendly, and older kids / teenagers are welcome.
