Participate in Day 2 of Our Gunnison Nude Beach Photography Project!

On Saturday August 19, we will be visiting Gunnison Beach to continue our nude photography project!

We are looking for more participants – **especially WOMEN and people of the LGBTQIA community.**

Anyone can still sign up below, but we are giving priority to women / LGBTQIA people.

As we stated before, our goal for this project is to document some of the people that visit the beach using nude photography and short interviews.

We are photographing people individually and in a natural pose.

Participants will be asked to give a few basic personal details (first name, age / range, where you’re from, etc) and to answer a series of questions about themselves (ie How long have you been coming to Gunnison? What do you like about it? Has visiting the nude beach affected your body image?).

We want to include as diverse a group as possible, but there are no requirements to participate other than a willingness to be photographed nude and to be over the age of 18 or with a parent / legal guardian present if under 18.

You are not required to use your real name. But we will not be taking “anonymous” photographs – ie, you do need to be comfortable with your face being visible in photos.

WHEN / WHERE: We will be photographing people at Gunnison on Saturday, August 19 between 11am and 4pm. (If you are driving, please plan to arrive before 11am to ensure you get a parking spot!) Please look for our YNA flag pictured above. We usually station ourselves just to the right after you pass the volleyball net, and also near the big black pirate flag.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: If you’d like to participate, please sign up by filling out the form below! Or you can contact us / email us at youngnaturists [at[ gmail {dot{ com.

We will then contact you via email. To carry out this project efficiently, we will ask you to answer the interview questions in advance using an online webform. We will then photograph you at the beach on August 19. Every participant will also fill out and sign a photo release on the beach.

Fill out my online form.
The easy to use Wufoo form builder helps you make forms easy, fast, and fun.

General Information about Gunnison Beach:

What to Bring to Gunnison: A towel, sunscreen, and water or beverages to keep you hydrated, are all essential items. An umbrella or sun shelter is also highly recommended for shade. On a typical nice weekend, there is usually a food truck vendor and also a vendor renting umbrellas and chairs. There are no vendors on the beach itself, and it is a bit of a walk – about 350 yards – on mostly loose sand from the entrance to the shoreline.

Facilities: There are public restrooms and showers at the entrance, but this is not a nude area so you must be covered.

Getting To Gunnison Nude Beach:

Gunnison Nude Beach is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from New York City. If you need a ride or can offer a ride, send us an email so we can coordinate carpooling: ynaevents [at[ gmail .com.

Address for your GPS: There is no direct address for Gunnison itself, but we do have an address that will get you to Sandy Hook: 1 Hartshome Drive, Highlands, New Jersey 07732. (Again, only follow this address until you reach the Sandy Hook entrance! Do not follow it beyond that point as it will not take you right to Gunnison.) You can also try using this intersection for your GPS: Atlantic Drive and Ford Road in Highlands, NJ.

Once you enter Sandy Hook, you’ll be looking for parking lot “G.” You’ll need to turn right just before you reach the “L” parking lot.

For public transportation from NYC: The Seastreak Ferry will take you from NYC to Sandy Hook. A round-trip ferry ticket is $46, and at the 1st ferry of the day you can get a discounted round-trip price of $30. From there, a complimentary shuttle can take you from the ferry landing to Gunnison Beach. You will need to check the times to see when the shuttles stop running from the beach back to the ferry. Taxis are also available to take you to the beach.

Parking at Gunnison Nude Beach: Parking is $15 / day per vehicle. Parking for the beach is at Lot G. Although the lot is quite large, it fills up fast, and it is difficult to find a spot after 11am on a nice weekend. (There are other parking areas, but you will have to walk somewhat to get from there to the beach). There is no separate fee to get on the beach, and carpooling is always a good idea.

Accessibility: Sandy Hook / Gunnison has beach wheelchairs with wide wheels that can be borrowed for the day. It’s helpful to reserve it in advance. Call the Sandy Hook Visitors Center for more information: (732) 872-5970. All the entrance facilities are wheelchair-accessible. Please note you will need to push the wheelchair across loose sand to get from the entrance to the shoreline.
