Artists Wanted For NYC Body Painting Day July 18, 2015

After an amazingly successful event last year and over-funded Kickstarter campaign, the 2nd annual NYC Body Painting Day is set to take place on Saturday, July 18 at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza.

As previously stated, it’s going to be double in size from last year, but we’d like to make it even bigger if possible with over 100 painted models.

While model applications have been pouring in, we still need more artists!

This event is not just for body painters, and body painting experience is not necessary. Any type of artist is welcome to apply, including street artists and traditional painters.

It should also be noted that Body Painting Day differs from other body painting events in that it’s not a competition. This event is about people connecting through art and enjoying the artistic process as it happens.

Artists are free to paint what they want in accordance with the 2015 theme, “What the world needs now…” The theme is open to interpretation, and paintings can be abstract. Every artist is provided with the same Kryolan body paints in a palette of basic colors.

Kryolan Body Paints For NYC Bodypainting Day 2015

Body Painting Day founder Andy Golub paints in a very spontaneous way, and artists are welcome to adopt the same approach or show up with a plan.

Artists and models will be randomly assigned to each other by Andy about a week before the event. This is a body-positive event, and models will be of all shapes, sizes, genders, ages, races, and so forth. Artists can also paint more than one model (contact Andy if you’d like to paint more than one person).

All models will be painted fully nude. This event is about celebrating all bodies without shame. We are challenging the idea that the human body is shameful and immoral. We are challenging the idea that the naked human body only belongs in a sexual context to be exploited or objectified for profit. We are challenging society’s beauty standards. At Bodypainting Day, people are empowered to be who they are.

Artists can apply through the Body Painting Day website. There is no application fee, and artists are accepted on an ongoing basis.

The fee to participate is $125, which includes:
– Kryolan body paints
– Model(s) are provided
– Lunch is provided
– Entry to the Double Decker Bus Ride
– Entrance to the private After-Party
– Official Body Painting Day T-shirt
– Official Body Painting Day Button
– Listing on website

Contact Body Painter Andy Golub ( ) with any questions, and we hope you will join us at NYC Body Painting Day 2015!

Has anyone tried body painting skin tones, either the same shade as the model, or different? So it would be a nude painting covering the nude model?
