The Real Naked People Project
Genuine Real Naked People Is A Project Worth Noting!
Real Naked People:
I’d be willing to bet the title of this article has you curious. Just the word ‘naked’ makes some people blush, while the concept of “real” naked people can set off giggles. Why is this our instinctual reaction to the thought of unclothed bodies, when we all arrive on this earth that way the day we are born?
Naturism is practiced in many places around the globe. Some countries are a little more accepting of the concept than others. In America, the overall feeling towards nudism is one of unease. Our Puritanical roots run deep, and being naked in public, in the open, just doesn’t seem right to most. Naturists know that nudity has nothing to do with sexuality, but most others just don’t see it that way.The minute we are born, our bodies are covered for warmth and protection. Our parents cuddle us, swaddled in blankets and pajamas, and we learn to associate being covered with security. We are taught from an early age that to be seen without clothing is wrong, and children feel shameful of being naked before they even understand what genitalia are for.
With the naked human body being sexualized to this extent, some interesting and terrible things have occurred. Body image has been distorted among growing children that are never allowed to see what real bodies should actually look like. Far fewer babies are breastfed in America than in other countries, and women who do manage to nurse successfully are demonized if they dare do so in public. The message that people are getting is that nudity is bad, bodies are shameful, and naturism is wrong.
While naturism may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it definitely bears considering whether practicing nudism eliminates the negative body image and sense of self that society is plagued with. By experiencing and appreciating the form and function of the human body, without objectifying and sexualizing it, we can appreciate how truly amazing our bodies really are.
Every woman who has ever breastfed her baby will tell you that there is no sexual bond to that baby, but there is an amazing joy and wonder that her body can provide sustenance for her child. Experiencing life in the same state that we started it is an amazing thing. It can make you feel connected to the world around you in ways that living clothed can’t. It can certainly increase your awareness of self, but not in the negative way that we are used to. Instead, we develop the understanding that our bodies are truly amazing things.
Genuine Naked People & The Nude Project
Unless you are a nudist, when else would you see the real, average person naked? Nudity is so taboo that when we do see it it’s celebrities in movies, in the media, or maybe the half-naked women you can catch on the Discovery channel once in awhile in the deserts of Africa. Naked people in the media are typically models with a body type that represents a miniscule percentage of the population. The result is that people end up having an entirely distorted perception of what the natural form truly looks like and what “normal” is (when there’s no such thing as normal.)
So here are 2 interesting projects that let you see photos of real people naked with no airbrushing, photoshop, or forced sexuality put into them.
1) The Genuine Nude People (can be viewed at: http://naked-people.de) is a unique project that with new technology lets you first see a person dressed and then nude, just by placing the cursor over them. Each person has a few descriptive words with their name, age, hobbies, profession, and country of origin. The blurb about the project begins with these alluring statements, “Clothes are our second layer of skin. They disguise, reveal, mirror our innermost being or help to hide it.”
2) The Nude Project (can be viewed at: http://thenuproject.com/) by photographer Matt Blum consists of a few galleries of real nudes as in “real people naked”, solely women, revealing themselves just as they are. The homepage reads “YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL” in 15 different languages and has some lovely music to listen to. Blum states, “I began The Nu Project looking to photograph normal people with no modeling experience and in photographing them capture little bits of pure, undistorted humanity.”

ds97 Even more disturbing are the ones who are skimpily dressed and might as well be on an erotic site.
None of the people on naked-people.de that you refer to as "Genuine Nude People" seem to be genuine. Do all women tamper with their pubic hair nowadays??? What signals does this send to unsecure women?
Of the 21 women shown on naked-people.de that you refer to as "Genuine Nude People", only three are in fact "genuine". Of the younger women, no single one is "genuine", i.e. they all tampered with their pubic hairs. What signals does this send to insecure young women? I thought your post was about showing that we are ok the way we are made. The "Nu project" seems to provide a more reassuring variety in this regard. Are young north american women more confident in their natural bodies than german women??
> What signals does this send to insecure young women? That their pubic hair is no different in terms of cleaning and grooming than the hair on their head? That it's theirs and theirs alone to manage as they please, hopefully without comments such as yours accusing them of not being "genuine" because of decisions they made about their own body?
